Dog Is ‘Terrified’ of the Vacuum but Still Follows Mom for Sweet Reason

Household chores usually make pets want to hide because most pups treat the vacuum like an enemy. However, things are a bit different over at @story_of_a_junebug. Holly is a mixed-breed rescue dog, living an adventurous life with her humans. And yet, when they are home, and the cleaning starts, she gets really conflicted.

The dog is terrified of the vacuum, but her mom is her safe place, and she won’t leave her side either. So, even with all that noise and movement, she sticks around. Nervous, yes. But also completely sure about where she needs to be.

Video shows dog follows mom as she vacuums because she’s her safe place

The clip starts in the kitchen, where Holly is peeking her head out from behind the island. She looks really concerned, and her ears are pinned back as well. But she isn’t running away. Instead, the rescue pup just stands there watching her mom and the machine move. The on-screen text says she is terrified, but she just won’t leave her person. This dog really believes her mom is the only protection she has, so she stays close. Even if it means being near the loud noise.

Interestingly, many mixed breeds carry a bit of that sensitive “Velcro dog” energy. They find their safe people and stick with them as they indicate stability. Holly follows her mom into every room, where she hides right behind her owner’s feet while she cleans.

The video shows mom vacuuming carpets, hardwood floors, and tiles, but Holly is always just one step behind. Her mom is, as one commentator pointed out, both the solution and the problem. What’s funny is the way she looks concerned in every shot, but still chooses to be there.

The post got 1.7k likes in just one day, and people are lauding her bravery. One viewer called it a mental conflict. Another suggested a children’s book called “Holly and the Scary Vacuum.” Some owners even say their pets do the same thing. Mom says she is thankful they have a small rechargeable one. She can’t imagine what she’d do with a big beater vacuum. Best not to find out.
