Walking around San Diego used to be a breeze for Tater until she decided the local landscaping was her new favorite spot. This Golden Retriever is clearly entering her teenage phase in a viral video that has everyone laughing. She’s over at @taterthegoldengirl, and usually, she’s the sweetest thing ever. But now she’s eight months old and has discovered her own opinion. Which mostly involves lying down in the dirt. Her parents have documented her life since she was a tiny baby. But this is definitely a new side of her. It’s hilarious and also kind of exhausting.
Golden Retriever just won’t move mid-walk in funny video
The whole thing starts with her dad literally having to climb into some shrubs to find her. She is just sprawled out among the plants, refusing to move an inch. He tries to lift her up by the front legs to get her moving. But Tater is not being cooperative at all. She just goes limp. And then he has to put her right back down in the leaves. It’s that classic breed stubbornness where they just decide they are done. And that’s it.
Then her dad tries to give the leash a little tug to encourage her. And this teenager actually snarls at him in the video while her Golden Retriever fur is covered in mulch. It isn’t mean. It’s just very sassy. Dad tells her not to snarl at him. “You’re the one in the plant,” he says.
He stands up, looking totally defeated. Meanwhile, her mom is behind the camera, just losing it. She’s laughing so hard while the dad tries to figure out his next move. This video of the Golden Retriever and her teenage attitude has over 124,000 likes for a reason.
One person commented that this is the age where they suddenly get too much confidence and don’t need their humans anymore, or at least that is what they think. Another viewer said the teenage years are definitely not for the weak. “The fun is just starting,” another person joked. “We officially have a stubborn teenager who likes to lay down mid walks,” her mom wrote in the caption.
