Getting bullied by an orange cat on your daily walk is not ideal, but it is what this rescue pup had to endure in this video. It is actually his third encounter with the scary neighborhood cat, according to the text on the screen. Michael and Cactus are coming back from their walk in the Miami sun. But Cactus is actually being carried home because he got so spooked. The posts on @cactustherescue are usually a lot more relaxed, but Cactus and his human decided they weren’t going to be bullied off their favorite route anymore. It was time for a plan.
Once scared, the rescue pup now appears to be friendly with the orange cat
Michael carries a very glum-looking Cactus into the house to regroup. He decides they need a bribe. So he heads over to his other cat, Miso, to borrow some treats. He tells “Mimi” he is taking some snacks for the mission, and then he tells Cactus it is time to go deliver the goods.
They head back outside to find the neighborhood security guard. Cactus is on his leash this time. He looks somewhat confident, but he still feels better with his human close by. Then we see in the video as the rescue pup and his dad spot the orange cat sitting right in the walkway. Michael offers the treat and waits. “Look! You want the treat?” he asks. And then it happens.
The cat actually eats it. Michael is stoked because they are officially friendly now. Cactus starts wagging his tail. He looks so relieved that the “peace treat(y)” actually worked. This rescue pup really needed this breakthrough to feel safe on the sidewalk again.
The walk back home is a complete 180 from the start of the video. Cactus is practically bouncing off the ground. He is so happy that the diplomacy worked. Over 25,400 people liked the clip because the neighborhood drama is so entertaining. One viewer commented that they were totally invested in the updates. Michael says they have officially entered diplomacy talks. Tensions are low. And the snacks are definitely helping.
