Video: These Senior Chihuahuas Don’t Fancy Daylight Savings

Some mornings just start slow, and then there are mornings like this — where two senior Chihuahua make a case against daylight savings, as can be seen in this video. In a clip posted on TikTok by @shelby_salmela, proud dog mom and soon-to-be human mom, her pint-sized pups, Katie and Grace, are in no rush to face the day.

In fact, Grace is still wrapped up like a sleepy burrito in their kennel. And the pair look blissfully unaware that the clocks have jumped forward. Their dad’s gentle “Good morning, Grace, good morning, Katie,” barely stirs them. However, Katie makes sure to give him a token stretch before resting her paws on his leg. She serves classic “I’m awake but not really” energy.

The viral video of the senior Chihuahuas begins in the coziest way possible: a quiet bedroom corner, soft light, and two reluctant early risers. Katie is the first furry sibling to stretch and offer a polite greeting, placing her front paws on her dad’s leg. Grace, meanwhile, is still completely submerged under a thick blanket. Their dad has to help the little blanket-loving dog by peeling the cozy cover back.

Her face when the light hits is pure betrayal. He jokingly voices her thoughts — “Get this blanket off so I can get out here” — while she blinks, yawns, and hesitates to move. When she finally stretches and offers a tiny paw, he praises her like she just ran a marathon. “You got it,” he encourages her. A few sleepy kisses, a sneeze, and an “aww, bless you” later, the vibe feels like the sweetest slow morning ever.

In the foreground, Katie trots across the frame with a sassy, well-timed transition. The dog dad gently removes a piece of hair stuck to Grace’s nose. The adorable move adds to the tender moments that only slow mornings allow.

The low-key vibe ends abruptly when their dad asks, “Wanna go outside?” Grace suddenly springs to life. When he says, “Okay, let’s go,” she does a play bow and is ready to be picked up.

As one commenter put it perfectly: “Grace is ME every morning before work.” Another added, “He’s so incredibly gentle,” while someone else summed up the moment best, “Siblings with opposite vibes.”
