The situation turned critical when Roscoe was hospitalized and placed in a coma after suffering from severe pneumonia. Hamilton shared a series of emotional social media posts, describing the distress of watching his loyal companion fight for his life. “Please keep Roscoe in your thoughts,” he wrote in one post, explaining how the dog’s heart had stopped but was revived before he slipped into a coma.
Sadly, after four days on life support, Hamilton made the difficult decision to say goodbye. In a heartfelt post, he shared: “He never stopped fighting, right until the very end. I feel so grateful and honoured to have shared my life with such a beautiful soul.” Continuing, he added, “Bringing Roscoe into my life was the best decision I ever made.”
Hamilton also reflected on the emotional challenge of putting a pet to sleep. The racecar driver noted that he had lost another dog, Coco, five years ago. However, he had never faced such a moment before. “It is one of the most painful experiences,” he wrote. But “having him was one of the most beautiful parts of life, to love so deeply and to be loved in return.”
