Video: Dog Does This to Protect Herself From Windy Weather

Stormy weather is not for everyone, so one has no option but to find a way to deal with it. Instagram user @hollythebluestaffy shared a video showing how their dog copes with the windy weather — and her way is unusual yet effective. In the video, Holly, the Staffy, burrows into the couch and surrounds herself with pillows whenever the weather turns windy. She shyly peeks out from her “pillow fort” every now and then, leaving pet lovers everywhere smiling.

An Instagram video shows a dog’s way of coping with the windy weather. Every time the weather is stormy outside, the Staffy hides behind massive pillows on the couch. The owner takes the camera near her to reveal her peeking out from the pillows, her big eyes giving away just how unsettled she feels when the gusts pick up outside.

Holly’s owner explained in the video’s caption that this behavior has been with Holly since she was a puppy. The owner wrote, “My theory is she’s blocking out the noise by doing this.” They continued, “or alternatively she thinks if the wind can’t see her then the wind can’t get her,” adding that while Holly used to retreat to a small closet space when the weather turned rough, lately she’s taken to hiding behind couch cushions instead.

Despite her fears, the dog has her routines to stay comforted, and her owner makes sure to put her first. “Do I cancel plans on windy/stormy nights, yes. Would some people consider that silly? Probably. But I don’t care. We’ll ride the storms out together Holly girl,” the caption concluded.

The video also shows how, at one point, Holly’s owner slips a chew before the dog, and her little head emerges to grab it, temporarily coming out of her safety retreat.

Viewers flooded the post with love, with one user commenting, “The emerging of the head for the treat. Oh Holly girl.” Another added, “Canceling plans those nights is 100% the right answer!” Meanwhile, others shared that their own pets have similar habits when they face noise or wind.

The dog may not be a fan of windy weather, but her video has won plenty of hearts.
