Video: Rescue Dog Handles 7-Hour Flight to Italy With Owner Like a Pro

Not every pup gets to stamp their paw-print passport, but Elko is no ordinary dog. His bio proudly reads “Rescue pup turned world traveler (40+ countries),” and judging by his latest trip, he’s got this whole jet-setting thing down to an art. In a video that’s racked up more than 53K likes, Elko’s human shows just how smoothly he handled a seven-hour flight to Italy. From ear rubs at takeoff to belly rubs mid-air, this good boy proves that with the right prep (and plenty of love), long flights don’t have to be stressful for dogs or their people.

The post has become a fan-favorite the instant it was uploaded. Captioned “Would you fly with your dog to Italy? Elko’s routine for long flights includes ear rubs and lamb chop!,” the clip breaks down the journey hour by hour so you feel like you’re right there with him.

Viewers see Elko waiting patiently at airport security, trading nose kisses with his dad before boarding. During hours one and two of the flight, he gets his favorite ear massage to ease takeoff jitters. By hour three, his beloved lamb chop toy makes an appearance, but Elko decides belly rubs are better for a nap.

Later, he gets a chance to peek out the window, almost like he’s taking in the clouds before settling in for a snack and some water. For landing, it’s back to ear rubs and patient waiting while passengers exit. Finally, freedom! His dad carries him off the plane, and the clip (and the trip) ends with a postcard-perfect moment: Elko, in front of some famous Roman ruins, rocking a beret and earning a treat.

Viewers were smitten. One joked, “I’d rather have Elko next to me on a plane than any person.” Another cheered, “Enjoy Italy Elko! Such a good boi.” Clearly, this little traveler has fans all over the globe.
