Dog Bunny Hops His Way Through Life in Adorable Video

Dogs come with many surprises: chewed-up shoes, sudden zoomies, and the occasional how-did-you-get-so-muddy moment. But some dogs surprise their owners (and the internet) in more unusual ways. Take Koda, for example, a Miniature Australian Shepherd who decided that running was overrated and hopping like a bunny was more his vibe.

Video of dog bunny hopping wins the internet

The video, shared by Instagram user @chaoswithkoda around Easter, features a Mini Australian Shepherd named Koda. What starts as a playful outdoor moment quickly turns into something irresistibly cute. The clip opens with Koda’s owner holding a stick, prompting the dog to leap up and try to bite it.

The onscreen text reads, “we thought we got a dog but instead we got…” The next scene reveals that Koda doesn’t run like most dogs, he hops. Bounding across the field on all fours in a springy, bunny-like motion, Koda looks more like an Easter rabbit than a herding dog. The text overlay continues, “a bunny,” sealing the joke with a perfect visual punchline.

One viewer commented, “I mean it was just Easter,” to which the owner cheekily replied, “the bunny costume got to him.” Another person added, “my toy aussie also does this,” hinting that this quirky hopping behavior might not be so unusual for the breed. Still, it was Koda’s joyful and exaggerated bounce that stole the spotlight.

Agile and quick-footed, Miniature Australian Shepherds are built for movement. They’re a smaller version of the standard Australian Shepherd but come with the same spirited personality. Their herding instincts often come out in bursts of energy, and hopping or bouncing can be a way for them to express excitement or stay engaged. While Koda’s bunny hop may be extra adorable, it’s also a reflection of how these dogs are naturally athletic and expressive in how they move
