Trouble getting our dog to potty when away from home.

We have a 2 1/2 year old Lhasa Apso and she love to go for rides, but she will not potty when we are on the road. We tried taking her on one long trip and had to cut it short when she would not go. She hates to be left home when we go on long trips and we hate leaving her behind, but we have no idea what to do. When we have her out she is always on a leash and at home we have a fenced yard that she has free access to. Any ideas would be wonderful.

snow dog

We don’t get a lot of snow in Australia. And only at higher elevations. Years ago I went skiing. It rained. Cold icy horrible rain. My misery made worse by a friend who didn’t seem to mind. He was ENJOYING himself. Afterwards, he scraped the frozen layer off the car’s windscreen with his bare hands. While I looked on shivering. Nevertheless, I spend winters here fantasising about visiting the snow…but ... (continued)

Help!

I am looking for a dog... Right now I am living in a large house with my mom, but she recently got remarried, so we are moving in with my step dad. He lives in a condo, so NO backyard. We are going to have four cats, a snake, and fish, so the dog will have to either tolerate the cats, or adore them. As long as the dog doesn't hurt them it will be good. The pup is going to get two daily walks (The morning one opti... (continued)

lila the labrador flees the fire zone

Until last summer’s Black Saturday (the worst bushfire in Australia’s history), I’d always stayed close to home on days of high fire risk. Now I like to be as far away from the bush as possible. Rather than stay to defend our property on dangerous days, we’ve boosted our house and contents insurance. When a “code red” or “catastrophic” fire warning was recently issued to parts of Victoria, I knew Lila and I w... (continued)

lila's first holiday

When Phil and I planned our summer holiday, we planned it around our Labrador Lila. What would Lila like to do??? After much deliberation, we decided that her preference would be a combination of bush and beach. And the three of us headed down Victoria’s terrifyingly beautiful Great Ocean Road to a cabin in the Otway Ranges where the sound of the sea lapped our doorstep. The most exciting aspect of this adventur... (continued)
