"What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Perhaps Shakespeare was on to something when he wrote those words for Juliet, but does that wisdom apply to our pet's name too?
Food for thought: Upon meeting your neighbor's Great Dane for the first time, would your initial reaction to the giant breed dog be any different if he were introduced to you as Beast instead of Cuddles?
Whatever we name our dog, cat, snake, parrot or hamster, our pet's name usually reveals a lot more about the owner than it does the pet!

Words may have multiple meanings, so it helps to take the time to understand what a proposed name for your dog may actually mean. For instance, Sophie means "wisdom."
