“The Dog Strikes Back” (Volkswagen, 1:15, second quarter):
An out-of-shape, couch-potato dog longingly spies a cherry-red Volkswagen Beetle driving through the neighborhood. How he’d love to chase it. Too chubby to fit through the pet door that leads outside, the pooch decides to get in shape by climbing stairs, running on the treadmill, swimming laps in the pool, and denying himself junk-food scraps that litter the kitchen floor. Only quibble: The Star Wars cantina epilogue with Darth Vader doesn’t belong (for the record, the dog is funnier than the Vader kid).
