The Bulldog is one of the most popular breeds of dogs in the world, and it’s easy to see why. They’re perfect for relaxed apartment living, they get along with just about everyone, and they’re loyal and protective friends. Not to mention their unique look!
There’s no mistaking a Bulldog for any other breed, and Bulldog lovers wouldn’t have it any other way.
Here are some of the reasons Bulldogs are so awesome.
1. They Don’t Need Much Exercise
If you’re not a fan of having to jog around just to burn off energy, that will never be a concern with a Bulldog.
These stubborn pups don’t feel the need to run around. In fact, you might have trouble getting them to walk at all.
In the video above, Charlie demonstrates just how far he’s willing to go to show that he’s not up for a second walk. One is enough, thanks.
2. They Put Up With A Lot
Dogs have a reputation for hating cats. No worries with a Bulldog around. These stocky pups tolerate all kinds of nonsense from other energetic animals and pets, so long as they don’t have to join in.
The Bulldog in the video above takes quite a bit of shenanigans from his kitten pal, and he barely flinches. Bulldogs are perfect for getting along in a multi-pet family.
3. They’re Great Watchdogs
Bulldogs don’t take too kindly to intruders on their turf. They’re well known for defending their humans, and they’re more than willing to take on opponents much bigger than themselves.
The two Bulldogs in the video above broke through the porch railings to confront the hungry black bear eating from the backyard bird feeder. Despite the bear’s aggressive stance, the pups don’t back down and send the bear lumbering back into the forest.
Even though the video above is pretty amazing, DogTime of course recommends keeping your dog away from dangerous wildlife in every circumstance. It should go without saying, but don’t send your dog outside just to chase away wild animals that could attack.
4. They’re Great With Kids
Thanks to their easygoing nature, Bulldogs are fairly willing to put up with the occasional tiny fingers getting jammed in their ears or mouths.
They’re pretty happy to lie around while the kids do their thing, like Spanky in the video above. He keeps his cool while his tiny human plays dress up to make him look like a beautiful princess.
If that’s not love, I don’t know what is.
All that said, remember to always supervise playtime between kids and dogs, even if both are well trained.
5. They Love Being Couch Potatoes
Are you up for spending a night on the couch watching Netflix and eating snacks? That might just be a Bulldog’s dream date!
They’re more than happy to relax in front of the television, getting pets and vegging out. In the video above, Bullet demonstrates her ability to focus on nothing but the Family Guy episode playing in front of her.
So long as she gets the remote control, she’s a happy pooch.
