Three nuns in Nyack, New York were in need of a new companion canine after the one they had passed away. The sisters went to Hi Tor Animal Care Center in search of a the perfect dog to add to their family. They had one request of the dog, that could not have delighted the shelter workers more. They were not looking for cute, trained or well mannered and they did not want a puppy that knew how to shake or was great with people.

They were looking for a dog that was in the most need of love and least likely to be adopted by anyone else. The ladies were introduced to a senior, Pit Bull named Remy. Remy had been there for nearly four months and had no potential adopters.

Remy was gentle and loving and seemed sensitive to the sister’s needs. She was also extra attentive with Sister Virginia who walks with a cane. They fell in love with the 9-year-old Pit Bull and she fell in love with them.

The shelter director was surprised that the ladies were not in the least bit apprehensive of Remy’s controversial breed. Pit bulls get a lot of negative press that many attributed to bad owners, but that didn’t affect their decision at all.

Some of the workers were so touched by the nun’s loving act of adopting the most “unadoptable” pooch that they covered the adoption fees. Remy and Sisters of Lady of Christian Doctrine are now living happily ever after.
