DogTime Review: Will A Senior Shih Tzu Play With Pet Craft’s ‘Hide And Seek Plush’ Dog Toy?

I could tell by the description of the Pet Craft Hide and Seek Plush Dog Toy that my dog would enjoy it. I have a 13-year-old Shih Tzu named Rowlf, and he almost exclusively plays with softer or plush toys.

This toy was especially great to bring into our new home where my dog has more room to run and play fetch. It’s important to keep senior dogs active!

So how much did Rowlf love the Hide and Seek Plush Dog Toy from Pet Craft? Here’s how it went!

What Is The ‘Hide And Seek Plush’ Dog Toy?

The Hide and Seek Plush Toys by Pet Craft come in a variety of different styles. But the main design of the toys is that they all come with one larger toy, which holds the remaining smaller toys that fit, or “hide,” inside.

For Rowlf, I selected the “shredder gym bag” designed to look like a gym bag — the larger toy — that holds smaller “socks” and “underwear” toys.

The toys crinkle, and some squeak, as well, so that it stimulates your dog to try and get the toys out of the bag. If the toy is too easy, putting a treat inside would also be a fun game for your pet.

In my case, the quality of the toy was perfect for a small or medium dog, like Rowlf. However, I would not recommend it for very tough chewers or larger breed dogs.

How Did Rowlf Like His New Toy?

Rowlf likes anything that squeaks, so his favorite toy of the gym bag set is the squeaky plush underwear, with the crinkly socks coming in at a close second.

Since Rowlf is a senior dog, his energy level is lower than it used to be. But when he’s in the mood to play, he loves playing fetch with these toys!

Rowlf’s breed is not known for being exceptionally intelligent, and he seemed a bit perplexed at first as to how to get the smaller toys out of the gym bag toy. But after a little bit of assistance, he grabbed the squeaky toy and ran down my hallway with it!

After a game of fetch, he took his toys back to his bed and took a nap.

Overall, I would highly recommend this product for puppies, as well as intelligent, small- to medium-sized breeds and dogs who are not destructive chewers.

This toy will definitely keep your pet interested and engaged as they try to figure out how to get to the toys or, if you so choose, a treat inside of the bag.
