There’s been a lot of buzz lately swirling around about CBD oil and how it can cure countless ailments in humans–and even in dogs. It helps many with depression, seizures, and Parkinson’s Disease. People use it to fight cancer, and it eases pain symptoms. The list goes on and on.
CBD is also supposed to help with anxiety. I wanted to try it out and see for myself if it helped my anxious pup.
For anyone who is still confused on the matter, CBD will not make your dog high. THC is different story entirely. Do keep THC away from your pup, including both recreation and medicinal marijuana products that you may use.
CBD has all the medicinal properties of the marijuana plant without the high, so it’s safe for dogs.
I was happy to get a chance to try out Canna-Pet‘s CBD products for dogs with my pooch, George. Here’s how it went.
CBD For Blind, Anxious George
I have two dogs in my home–one is a 15-year-old Shih Tzu pup, George, who started losing his eye sight about four years ago. Along with his fading vision, he’s had increased anxiety.
When George gets anxious, it stresses me out and makes me so sad. He paces erratically through the house and bumps into walls. Walk… Bump… Walk… Bump…
I gave him one Canna-Pet CBD oil capsule every morning and evening for two weeks straight just to see if it made a difference.
Two Week Trial
At the end of two weeks I realized that George did not do any of his anxious pacing at all during that time.
No bumping into walls. No howling for no reason.
I would say that I definitely noticed a positive difference.
Grooming
George had a grooming appointment during the time I was giving him the CBD capsules. The groomer said that George really loathes being in a kennel without his sibling dog, Sara, and did vocalize his displeasure.
Having a second dog has been the best way to manage Georgie’s stress. When he gets groomed, he goes with Sara, and they are together most of the time, but he’s just getting grumpy and anxious in his old age.
The CBD didn’t stop George’s grumpiness, but I wasn’t expecting any miracles.
Sleepover
George had a recent sleepover with my pet sitter, and I left her some Canna-Pet capsules for him.
She said George woke up howling in the middle of the night. She gave him a capsule and reported that he finally settled down and went back to sleep not too long after that.
When George has a sleepover with the dog sitter, Sara is there, and he does really well, but the transition of new smells and new surroundings can confuse him. It’s nice to have some back up. I don’t think I will ever go out of town again without leaving my dog with some CBD aid.
Bottom Line: Does Canna-Pet CBD For Dogs Work?
I definitely saw a difference with my dog’s behavior when he was taking Canna-Pet. It didn’t seem to make a difference when he went to the groomers, but I think that has to do more with him never being crate trained. His breed is notorious for hating confined spaces. I think it also helped during his sleepover with the dog sitter.
He’s an old dog and I want him to be comfortable and enjoy his senior years. I would definitely recommend and use this product again.
I’ve used the capsules and liquid. The liquid, you can just apply to your pup’s food. The capsules are my favorite. I dip them in peanut butter and my dog swallows them right down.
One thing I really like about Canna-Pet is that products are made from organic, ethically-sourced ingredients. Whenever available, I will always opt for the organic/ethical version; milk, eggs, vegetables, face cream, CBD. Yes, please!
Many dogs do not like pills or capsules of any kind. If that is the case with your pooch, you can give them the liquid form or a biscuit form. I bet most dogs would pick the biscuit.
Canna-Pets comes in the following forms:

WARNING: Any time there is a hot new product on the market, you can bet there will be people wanting to turn a profit. Just like food and vitamins, there are higher quality products out there and lower quality products. I recommend that you do some research on companies that are selling CBD items. Not all CBD products are created equal.
Does Your Dog Have Anxiety?
Before you purchase CBD products to help your dog, you may be wondering if your pooch has anxiety. The best thing to do is, of course, consult your veterinarian and report any concerning symptoms to them.
You should not try ANY treatment for your dog without getting your vet’s approval first.
With that in mind here are a few symptoms of mild anxiety in dogs that you should watch for:
- Pacing
- Excessive licking or chewing
- Seeking solitude
Symptoms of more severe anxiety in dogs include:
- Excessive drooling
- Aggressive behavior
- Escaping
- Excessive energy
- Barking, howling
- Urination
- Destructive behavior in the home
If you determine that your dog has anxiety, you might be wondering exactly what CBD is supposed to do for them. How can it actually help your pooch?
Here are a few things CBD products can do for your dog:
- Reduce anxiety
- Help fight Cancer
- Treat seizures and epilepsy
- Relieve pain
- Protect the nervous system
- Promote cardiovascular health
It seems there’s no end to the benefits of CBD products. So if you are curious about it, why not try it out?
