Puppy Approaches Water Bowl Beside Lion Statue, but Every Sip Comes With Suspicion

Asher only wants to drink water, but the lion statue standing behind the public doggie water bowl has him second-guessing. Even so, Asher approaches, takes a sip, and immediately looks very, very skeptical. The video shared by @lil.mr.asher shows the puppy keeping his ears back and his body as far from the lion statue as possible while stretching his neck toward the water. His mom keeps holding the leash and filming as Asher tries to drink without getting too close, because apparently, he is scared of the decorative lion making a move.

The outdoor seating area of a cafe has a dog water bowl sitting near a lion statue. The lion is part of the decor and, according to Mom, has not moved in years. But Asher is not convinced. He approaches the bowl and starts drinking, but keeps his body pulled way back from the statue. His neck stretches forward while his paws stay planted as far from the lion as he can manage.

Every little movement seems to make him reconsider. His ears stay turned back, and he keeps glancing toward the statue while trying to get another sip. He eventually lets out a tiny whimper, making mom laugh behind the camera. The text on screen jokes that the lion has not moved in years, but that “today could be the day.”

Viewers had plenty to say about Asher’s caution. One pointed out that the wording still leaves open the question of whether the lion has moved before. Another said the odds of a statue attacking are low, “but never zero.” The video has gone seriously viral, picking up more than 375,000 likes.

This puppy is clearly scared of the lion statue, even though this particular lion has been immobile the whole time. Asher just wants a little distance between himself and the cafe’s decoration while he drinks, a very reasonable request, at least according to him.
