The cat is sitting quietly on the stairs, but Toby and Tilly are treating her like a serious obstacle. The two rescue dogs are at the top, looking down at her and apparently deciding that going past is not worth the risk. In the video shared by @pitbull.party.of.2, the familiar stereotype about bully breeds and small animals gets turned on its head as the Pit Bull and Pit mix hesitate, look to each other for backup, and eventually retreat. These Pit Bulls are scared of the cat and have absolutely no interest in testing their luck.
2 Pit Bulls hesitate to pass a cat blocking the stairs in viral video
The video, filmed from the bottom of the stairs, shows a cat sitting on one of the steps. At the top, Toby and Tilly are stuck. The in-video text first raises the stereotype that “bully breeds should not be trusted around small animals.” It immediately follows with the owner’s very different reality: these two are afraid to walk past their cat.
Toby stands in front, with Tilly tucked behind him. Both look up at the human with those worried, unsure expressions. The text over them says, “Send halp.” Toby even glances back at Tilly, as though suggesting she should go first. Tilly wants absolutely no part of that plan. She turns around and walks away, leaving Toby standing there alone with the cat still sitting on the stairs.
A little later, Tilly is by the railing on the landing, looking toward the person filming as the text asks for “a little help plz?” Toby is still upstairs. Then the human starts climbing toward them, and that finally gets Toby moving. But he turns and walks away too, with the text joking, “Fluff this, I’m out too.” The funniest part is that the cat never has to do anything. She simply sits there and watches.
The video of these Pit Bulls scared of a cat has picked up more than 38,900 likes, and commenters are having a great time with the role reversal. One person joked that “bully breed” apparently means the dogs are the ones being bullied by the cat. Another simply stated the real bully breed in this house is the kitty.
