Golden Retriever’s Backyard Antics Include Stealing Strawberries From Mom’s Garden

There’s an unspoken rule that comes with having a dog: what’s yours is yours, until they decide it looks delicious. Olive seems to have taken that rule especially seriously when it comes to the strawberries growing in her family’s garden. The Golden Retriever is caught with her front paws planted inside the backyard container, sniffing out the best-looking strawberries while Mom watches her latest garden raid unfold. In the video shared by @oliveinsb, Olive gets caught mid-chomp, but the discovery does little to slow her down.

Golden Retriever thinks the backyard strawberries are hers and she’s not taking questions

Mom starts filming as she walks toward the strawberry container and spots Olive already hard at work. Her front paws are planted inside, her nose is busy checking each plant, and she looks completely focused on finding something worth stealing. The text on the video calls her “the garden gremlin,” which feels pretty fair.

Then Mom gets closer and catches Olive in the middle of a bite, and she lets out an exasperated gasp. Olive looks completely unbothered. There is no pause to reconsider the situation, either. If anything, she digs in even harder, leaving Mom with very little choice but to accept that the backyard strawberries may have found a new owner.

A few seconds later, Olive takes things up another notch. Both back paws come into the container, too, giving her a much better position for reaching the plants. She moves from one strawberry plant to another, chomping on her discoveries as Mom continues filming. Mom may have planted the strawberries in the backyard garden, but the Golden Retriever seems to have handled the harvesting.

The video has received more than 18,000 likes at the time of writing, and viewers are thoroughly entertained by her lack of concern. One person laughed about “the step up into the container,” while another called it a free salad bar. Someone else summed up Olive’s attitude perfectly: “Sorry Mom these are mine!” Olive certainly knows how to turn a simple afternoon walk into a hilarious snack break.
