When the video starts, Laima has already figured out something important: these people might be able to help her puppies. The mama stray dog had been living near an abandoned house with her four babies, keeping them tucked away from the world, waiting for rescuers. Then, while some shelter staff were feeding stray dogs in a village, she began to ask for their attention. She came closer, accepted food from their hands, and kept looking back at them before walking away again. @lovefurryfriends_rescue captured the unusual little journey, and it quickly became clear that Laima had somewhere she needed them to see.
Mama stray dog leads rescuers to her babies at an abandoned house when the time is right
Further into the video, Laima kept taking a few steps onto a path before turning around to check that the rescuers were still following. They stopped to give her more kibble along the way, and she kept going. Eventually, she slipped through a rusty gate surrounded by overgrown plants and headed toward an abandoned house. That was when everything clicked.
Inside, four tiny babies were tucked into a makeshift shelter surrounded by scraps and broken furniture. Laima had been keeping them there, doing what she could to protect them. Once the rescuers reached the babies, the mama stray dog stayed close but allowed them to come near. She even accepted some gentle cheek rubs, which only reflected her trust in these people.
The rescuers gathered the whole family and brought them back to the shelter. Laima kept a close eye on her puppies as they settled into a warm whelping tub, and it didn’t take long for everyone to look a whole lot more comfortable.
Now the puppies have soft bedding, regular warm meals, and plenty of room to play. One little pup even seems to have developed a habit of giving shelter staff kisses whenever they lean in for a hello. Laima, meanwhile, gets to relax on her own bed while her babies tumble around nearby.
The video has already picked up more than 70,000 likes, and viewers clearly fell for the clever mama. One called her “so smart,” while others thanked the rescuers for saving the whole family. For Laima, asking humans for help was a big step. This time, it worked.
