The unfamiliar surroundings and constant noise can make an already difficult situation even more challenging for them. The video features a dog named Jasper. His caregiver shared that while he enjoys playgroups, he is shy and easily startled. To feel safer and more comfortable, Jasper often hides in the corner and refuses to come out.
Shelter dog refuses to leave his corner despite human’s attempts at showing love
This video features a shelter dog named Jasper who refused to leave the corner despite a human showing him a kind gesture. @cassondrachristman shared the clip on Instagram. As the clip begins, Jasper is seen sitting in the corner of his kennel. The caregiver shared that he was too scared to move. She even brought him a cozy bed to sleep in, thinking it would make him feel better. However, Jasper didn’t budge. In fact, he moved even further into the corner, trying to make himself as small and comfortable as possible.
The woman also left him a treat. However, Jasper was seemingly too scared to come out of his corner and grab the treat or sleep on the comfortable bed she had laid out for him. He stayed in the corner and didn’t move all day, refusing to touch the bed or the food. When the volunteer checked on him the next day, he was in the same spot, as if that was the only place where he felt safe and comfortable.
The shelter shared that Jasper is two years old and does well with other dogs during playgroups. He is sweet, friendly, and affectionate. However, he gets easily startled and is a bit shy. It is as if he has never had the chance to explore the world outside fully. All the volunteers hope is that Jasper finds a home soon where he can experience life beyond the shelter and enjoy it to the fullest. The clip touched viewers’ hearts, with many commenting that they hope Jasper finds a loving home soon and gets all the love he deserves for the rest of his life.
