In the viral video shared by @lifeofsterlingnewton, the Golden Retriever barely seems interested in his latest check-up because his attention is fixed on something much more important. As treats start appearing, his mom can’t help but wonder whether those mysterious injuries are really as serious as they first seemed. More than 50,000 people have already watched Sterling make his case. And plenty of them are convinced he has figured out exactly how to work the system.

The clip opens inside the examination room with Sterling sitting beside the exam table. Meanwhile, the veterinarian and nurse get everything ready. The on-screen text jokes, “When you’re convinced your dog is faking injuries because these are his vet visits.” And Sterling immediately starts proving the point.

His mom laughs as she tells the doctor they are back for another check-up. Before the examination even begins, the veterinarian smiles and says, “I guess we better start off right,” while reaching for the treats. Sterling doesn’t waste a second as his eyes stay locked on the snacks.
