Toddler Walks up to Big Dog With a Treat, Then Adorably Has Her Do Tricks & She Listens

Walking into a kitchen to command a pup taller than you requires a lot of confidence. That’s exactly what one determined toddler does to a big dog in this video shared by @littles_and_larges_, with a treat already in hand and a plan to make her do tricks.

Each of Kalyn’s instructions comes with total authority, even when the big dog takes a second to think things over. By the time Onyx finally lies down after a polite little “please,” it’s obvious these two already know each other’s routine. And watching the tiny trainer beam with pride is easily the best part.

Big dog doesn’t miss a single beat when toddler offers her a treat in exchange for tricks

Kalyn hurries into the kitchen already holding the treat up where Onyx can see it. Before the big dog even has time to figure out what’s happening, the toddler gives her first command: “Sit.” Onyx notices the snack first. She studies the situation for a second, so Kalyn points at her and repeats herself with even more determination. This time, Onyx folds neatly into a sit.

Next comes “Paw.” The Great Dane keeps watching the treat instead, earning a firm little “No” from her tiny trainer. Kalyn steps back, holds out her hand again, and asks once more. Onyx finally lifts her paw, never taking her eyes off the prize. “Good girl, Onyx,” Kalyn tells her.

There’s one last challenge. Kalyn asks Onyx to lie down. When nothing happens, rather than giving up, she sweetens the request with a polite “Please,” raises the treat a little higher, and tries again in the cutest high-pitched voice. That does the trick, and Onyx lowers herself onto the floor, and her trainer hands over the well-earned reward.

The best part comes afterward. Treat delivered, Kalyn immediately turns toward the parent filming, looking every bit as proud of herself as anyone would be after a successful training session. Viewers couldn’t get enough of the teamwork.

One person joked, “Imagine listening to someone who’s smaller than you,” while another called Kalyn the “Best Trainer.” Plenty also noticed how gently Onyx accepted the treat, proving that sometimes the biggest dogs really are the gentlest.
