This video features a senior shelter dog who was left in a kennel after spending nine years with her family. There is something especially heartbreaking about seeing a senior dog waiting behind kennel bars, particularly after devoting so much of her life to one family. The same is true for Luna. She is nine years old and spent all those years with her family, only to be left behind later in life.
Senior shelter dog lives in temporary foster home, waiting for her forever family
This video, shared on Instagram by @lyssaarmstrong, tells the heartbreaking story of a senior shelter dog named Luna. She is a senior dog who spent nine long years with her family before being left behind for reasons unknown. The caregiver shared that Luna’s story is sadly the reality for many senior dogs.
However, she hopes Luna’s story doesn’t have to end that way. Luna is currently in foster care, but only for 45 days. If she isn’t adopted or placed in another foster home within that time, she will have to return to the shelter.
The environment in shelter homes, especially overcrowded ones, can be overwhelming for dogs. That’s why volunteers constantly hope every shelter pet finds a forever home where they can receive the love they truly deserve. The same is true for Luna, and her foster parent is praying that she finds a loving family soon.
The foster parent shared that Luna is the sweetest girl and will fill any home with love, positivity, and happiness. She walks beautifully on a leash and gets along well with cats, other dogs, and children, making her a wonderful companion. Luna has a calm demeanor and is incredibly affectionate and gentle. For her, happiness simply means being by the side of someone who truly loves her. After everything she has been through, all Luna wants is a family to call her own once again.
