Golden Retriever & Toddler’s Naptime Ritual Starts off Chaotic but Ends Cozy

Getting a small child to take a peaceful afternoon nap often requires lots of creative negotiation. And a hilarious viral video posted by @ladyandtheblues shows just how a toddler won’t nap unless her Golden Retriever best friend joins the routine. The footage shows little Olive refusing to rest until her favorite pup is also tucked in on her bed. Lady, as we see, is already waiting on the mattress, completely prepared for the incoming chaos.

Toddler won’t sleep unless Golden Retriever ‘best friend’ joins her

The action starts with Olive plopping down right next to her furry sister. She carefully places a glittering tiara on the dog’s head, officially crowning her “Queen Lady.” Next, the little girl spreads a cozy blanket over Lady. The preparation gets pretty hectic when Olive decides the bed needs way more occupants. She struggles across the bedroom with her arms completely overloaded with stuffed toys.

After this, she drops the big pile of plushies right next to Lady, then adds even more blankets to keep the toys warm. Before actually closing her eyes, the little girl steps off the mattress to give her pup some direct affection. She sits on the carpet, gently patting Lady’s face and giving her nose a sweet finger boop. A quick kiss follows right before the official storytime begins. Olive reads aloud to the dog and the wall of stuffed animals because books are absolutely mandatory.

Through it all, Lady barely moves a muscle. This incredible patience is exactly why a Golden Retriever makes the ultimate companion for a growing toddler in this sweet video. The clip eventually cuts to the peaceful aftermath where both sisters are completely passed out.

Amused viewers noticed that Olive is clinging to the very edge of the mattress because there is barely any room for the child. The post got over 25,000 likes from delighted fans. The family shared that their other dog, Lily, wanted to join the fun too. However, Olive banned her from the bed because she might “eat the pillows.”
