Looking after a toddler is no easy job, and one pup seems to think she could do it better. An Instagram video shows Toffee the Golden Retriever carefully monitoring her baby sibling’s every move before turning her attention to their mom with a hilariously judgmental look. The funny clip has since sparked plenty of jokes from viewers about who was really in charge of the household.
Golden Retriever judges mom’s parenting after baby’s antics
The clip, shared by @talesoftoffee1, opens with baby Phoebe making a speedy crawl away from her play area and across the living room. Standing just a few feet away, Toffee watches the scene unfold without taking her eyes off the toddler. The pup occasionally glances back towards her mom as though expecting her to step in. Meanwhile, an on-screen text reads, “Nothing humbles you quite like a dog judging your parenting.”
Moments later, Phoebe crawls past the family dog and points directly at her, as though telling Toffee to stay where she is. So, the Golden Retriever seemingly blinks in disbelief, prompting another caption that reads, “Was not expecting a telling off from the baby today.”
The playful narration imagines Toffee trying to make sense of the situation. One caption jokingly gives the dog the line, “Oh so we’re just letting her go then mother?,” after she looks back toward her owner while Phoebe continues crawling away.
Still unconvinced, Toffee eventually walks over to her mom and fixes her with another long, unwavering stare. The final on-screen caption humorously translates the look as “This is your final warning mother,” suggesting the Golden Retriever had officially reached the end of her patience.
