A comforting bedtime routine can make all the difference when it’s time for a child to settle down. For some, that means a favorite story or a cherished stuffed animal, while others simply want a familiar face nearby before closing their eyes. An instant video has captured one toddler’s heartwarming routine, showing that the only thing she needs before naptime is her Golden Retriever, Lady.

The clip, shared on Instagram by @ladyandtheblues, opens with text that explains the adorable situation. It reads, “POV: Your toddler won’t nap unless her best friend sleeps with her.” As the video shows, the toddler doesn’t simply climb into bed when it’s time for a nap. Instead, she makes sure Lady is just as ready to rest as she is.
Lady is already lying peacefully on the bed as the little girl begins preparing for naptime. She gently places a tiara on the Golden Retriever‘s head, giving her a royal title worthy of the caption, “Just a girl and her Queen Lady.” Without disturbing her patient companion, the toddler carefully arranges several plush toys beside Lady, creating a cozy sleeping space for the pair.
Once everything is in place, the little girl pulls a blanket over the dog and gently pets her, making sure her best friend is tucked in comfortably. Lady calmly accepts every part of the routine, barely moving as the toddler fusses over her with obvious affection.
Before settling down herself, the toddler picks up a book and reads to Lady. Only after story time is over does she climb into bed beside the Golden Retriever, where the two eventually drift off to sleep together.
The gentle interaction quickly won over viewers, many of whom couldn’t get enough of Lady’s calm and patient nature. “Lady being so patient waiting for nap time to finally happen,” one commenter wrote, while another declared, “Lady is the best nap buddy.”
Others joked that Lady had landed the perfect life. “I’d like to be your next dog please,” one viewer commented after watching the Golden Retriever receive so much love and attention. Another added, “The queen must be coziest,” referring to Lady’s tiara, blanket, and carefully prepared sleeping arrangement.
