It’s easy to assume a rescue dog’s story ends once they’re saved, but for many, that’s only the beginning. Gabby Sue knows that better than most. After losing her babies and narrowly escaping euthanasia, the mama rescue dog is still hoping someone will give her the forever home she’s been waiting for.
Rescue dog was once a mama to her babies, but she now waits for a forever home
The clip, shared by Instagram user @katie_kawash, tells Gabby Sue’s story through captions written from the dog’s perspective. The opening message reveals just how close she came to losing her life after arriving at a shelter with her puppies. “They took my puppies and scheduled me to be euthanized…” the onscreen text reads.
Fortunately, her story did not end there. The next message explains that the National Brittany Rescue & Adoption Network (NBRAN) stepped in before it was too late. “NBRAN saved me but I’m still waiting for my forever home….” the video continues.
While the words describe the hardships Gabby Sue has faced, the footage offers a hopeful glimpse of the dog she is today. She can be seen spending time outdoors, happily exploring in the sunshine, playing fetch, and leaning into gentle pets from a volunteer. Another caption introduces her personality in simple terms: “I’m a good girl, I play fetch and I love my people!”
The accompanying post offers more insight into Gabby Sue’s journey. According to the caption, the four-year-old Brittany Spaniel mix became deeply depressed after being separated from her puppies. Just hours before she was due to be euthanized, NBRAN rescued her and gave her a second chance.
Now, the rescue says, Gabby Sue is ready to find the “happy ending she deserves.”
As for the kind of home that would suit her best, NBRAN says Gabby Sue would thrive as the only dog in the household. That said, she may also do well with a “calm male companion.” She is currently being cared for in Tulsa, Oklahoma, while waiting for the right adopter to come along.
