Guide Dog Tricks Owner Into Getting a Pup Cup but Hilariously Fails

Most days, Beth follows Churro’s lead without giving it a second thought. She is, after all, a blind person, and Churro is her guide dog. In a now-viral clip shared by @the_blind_girlie, the dog appears to have a destination of his own in mind.

At first, the video looks like an ordinary outing. But soon enough in the Instagram reel, the guide dog leads her straight to the entrance of a nearby Dairy Queen. Then he pauses outside the doors and looks up at Beth. However, his owner quickly figures out what’s going on and starts laughing.

Guide dog tries to trick owner into getting into Dairy Queen for a pup cup

The video shows Beth recording her dog as he navigates the sidewalk pavement. She issues a routine command to move forward across the street intersection. Then he makes a turn that Beth wasn’t expecting. A second later, she realizes they’re standing outside Dairy Queen. She laughs and questions his sudden behavior while holding his harness handle. Labrador owners will tell you they can do anything for food. Whatever his reasoning was, Churro seemed pretty pleased with where he’d ended up.

As Beth talks to him, Churro keeps looking up at her expectantly, wondering if his plan worked. But Beth simply turns around and commands him to keep moving forward past the ice cream shop doors. She admitted online that following his lead is normally the safest choice.

As of the time of writing, the clip has already racked up over 167,000 likes and more than three million views. The comments were full of people laughing at Churro’s attempt. One person joked that working dogs returning to their silly factory settings is always entertaining. Another follower added that naming him Churro basically guaranteed a massive sweet tooth.

After the video of the guide dog took off, many viewers had the same question. Why didn’t Churro get the pup cup? In a follow-up video, Beth explained that Churro remembered the location from one visit nine months earlier. Feeding him at the store again would’ve reinforced bad habits and created dangerous distractions during poor weather conditions. She also reassured viewers that Churro gets plenty of rewards while he’s working.
