Bitsy’s road to recovery has not been an easy one, but she hasn’t had to walk it alone. The senior foster dog, who lives with Intervertebral Disc Disease, has received an outpouring of support from people following her story online. Their donations have helped provide access to physical therapy that could improve her mobility and comfort. Now, a new video of the foster dog is showing the results of that generosity.
Foster dog gets treatment with the help of generous donors
Instagram user @littlemamabigworld works with senior dogs through Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, a San Francisco-based rescue organization dedicated to finding homes for older dogs. Through her posts, she regularly shares the stories of pups in her care, raising awareness about their needs and encouraging people to support rescue efforts.
One of the latest dogs to win over followers is Bitsy, a senior pup living with Intervertebral Disc Disease, or IVDD. The condition affects the spinal discs and can interfere with a dog’s ability to move normally.
Depending on its severity, IVDD can cause pain, weakness, loss of coordination, and difficulty walking. As such, Bitsy requires ongoing treatment, rehabilitation, and physical therapy to improve her quality of life and maintain mobility.
In the video, the foster dog is shown participating in water therapy, a form of rehabilitation that allows pups to exercise with less strain on their bodies. At first, Bitsy appears hesitant and unsure about the process. She carefully tests her footing and seems reluctant to move forward.
As the session continues, however, she gradually becomes more comfortable and starts walking through the water with greater confidence. The progress may appear small, but for a dog dealing with mobility challenges, every step represents an important achievement.
Text displayed in the video thanks the people who helped make the therapy possible, reading, “Thank You Generous Donors for Making this Possible for my Foster Dog.”
In the caption, the foster parent noted visible changes in Bitsy’s mobility. She described watching the dog coordinate her paws better, walk longer distances, and use her back legs more effectively. “You all made this possible!!.” she wrote while thanking supporters for their role in the dog’s recovery.
