Every dog has their own personality, and for some, that includes being a little possessive about their favorite belongings. While many pups enjoy interactive games with their owners, there are times when a cherished toy becomes something they would rather keep all to themselves. A recent video shared on Instagram captured one determined Corgi refusing to hand over his beloved toy, no matter how hard his owner tried.
Corgi doesn’t wish to share his toy even with owner during play time
Winston, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi featured on the @corgiwinstontje account, recently left viewers amused after demonstrating just how attached he is to one particular toy. The clip opens with the text, “POV: You wanted to play with your dog, but he’s a Corgi,” a warning that quickly proves accurate.
The video shows Winston relaxing on a couch with a hedgehog plushie firmly in his possession. The Corgi appears to be completely absorbed in chewing and playing with it. His owner then reaches toward the toy, seemingly hoping to join the fun and start a game together. However, Winston appears less than eager to share.
As soon as his owner’s hand gets close, the Corgi tightens his hold on the hedgehog and refuses to let go. At one point, he even turns his head away from his owner, making it clear that the plushie belongs to him and him alone.
The humorous standoff continues when his owner makes another attempt. Anticipating the move, Winston quickly grabs the toy and relocates himself to the other side of the couch. The decision leaves little room for debate. If his owner wants to play, it certainly won’t be with his favorite hedgehog.
Viewers found Winston’s reaction highly relatable and filled the comments section with jokes about the famously opinionated breed. One person wrote, “I think every Corgi has a hedgehog,” suggesting the toy might be a favorite among many Corgis. Another joked, “Rule #1 of Corgi Fight Club: aggression!!!!” while poking fun at Winston’s determined defense of his prized possession.
Others imagined Winston’s thoughts during the interaction. “Excuuuuse me. Did you pay for this toy?! Oh, you did? Well, good for you,” one commenter quipped. Another owner appeared to sympathize with the situation, writing, “Pretending to not relate to the video….but silently cries in getting side eyed.”
