A German Shepherd named Spyro is winning hearts online after an Instagram video revealed the sweet ritual he follows before calling it a night. The clip, shared by @spyro.gsd, begins by challenging the common perception of the breed. Text displayed on the screen reads, “People see a scary German Shepherd… I see a big baby who can’t sleep until he knows his dragon is okay.”
The video then shows what that means in practice. Before settling down for bed, Spyro walks over to his dragon plushie to check on it. Only after making sure his favorite toy is right where it should be does he appear ready to relax for the night.
The moment is far from the intimidating image many people associate with German Shepherds. Instead of looking fierce, Spyro comes across as a pup who simply finds comfort in a beloved stuffed toy. His owner affectionately calls him a “big baby,” and the video makes it easy to see why.
The post was accompanied by the caption, “Proof that even big dogs are still just big babies.” Many people pointed out that large breeds often have surprisingly gentle personalities once they’re in the comfort of their homes.
