Hundreds of lucky pups spent the beautiful weekend soaking up the sunshine at a massive outdoor playground built for pets. The famous Dogstival event just took over Burley Park in Hampshire for two full days of absolute canine chaos. And it actually looked like the ultimate summer getaway if you happen to walk on four legs. The past weekend’s dog festival featured everything from giant splash pools to specialized treat stations. It gave local pets a rare chance to have the time of their lives alongside hundreds of other furry friends.
Festival designed for dogs features competitions, entertainment, food, and more
The absolute highlight of the weekend had to be the massive pop-up beach. According to this BBC report, UK beaches usually ban pups around this time of year, which is not ideal for water-loving breeds like Labradors. But this event set up a sandy shore complete with palm trees and foam parties. Pups were literally sprinting through mounds of bubbles.
And there were even three giant diving pools for dogs who just wanted to cool down in the refreshing water. Judging by photos from the event, plenty of dogs were more than happy to throw themselves into the action.
Food options were also next level. Forget boring old kibble because these pets were munching on custom dog-friendly pizzas and cooling down with popsicles. They even had a specialized bar serving “pup-tails” so dogs could grab a drink with their owners. The BBC reported that the weekend was packed with “entertainment and competitions, all curated specifically for man’s best friend.”
Aside from the food, there was a whole music stage and a craft cafe for paw-painted art. This incredible dog festival also set up casual breed meetups at the local tavern. It gave people a brilliant chance to swap training stories and let their pups socialize. And the organizers even kept things eco-friendly by running the stages mostly on solar power and recycling 67% of all waste.
Evidently, nobody wanted the weekend to end, and those lucky pups are probably sleeping off food and play-induced coma right about now.
