A lot of dogs have that one word that suddenly changes everything — their mood, their day, their expression. For some, it’s “walk,” for others, it’s “treat.” But over at @franky_thecorgi, apparently, the secret password is strawberries. And truly, Franky’s reaction to hearing it is so dramatic that you need to watch the video multiple times just to see the grin happen again. Flashing his biggest smile is this Corgi‘s best trick, and of course, he wasn’t going to do it for free — enter strawberries.

The little Corgi already has a reputation for being hilariously quirky, too. In another clip, he famously slid down the dog stairs instead of walking down them normally. So the second this new strawberries video started, people already knew there was a good chance Franky was about to do something ridiculously cute.
This particular video opens with Franky sitting on the couch while his mom films him from nearby. His expression is completely neutral at first. Just a calm little face staring back at her. Then she says, “Smile.” Nothing much happens. Well, almost nothing. His mouth twitches slightly like he’s thinking about it, but then he immediately goes back to looking serious again.
Mom tries a second time. “Smile.” Another tiny, almost-smile appears and disappears just as quickly. That’s when she changes tactics. “Smile… for strawberries.” And suddenly, Franky absolutely lights up.
The second he hears the word “strawberries,” the biggest grin spreads across his face, and his mom immediately starts laughing behind the camera. It honestly looks like he had been holding out for better negotiating terms the whole time.
The video picked up over 1.9K likes, and the comments somehow made it even funnier. One person wrote, “Need the magic word.” Another joked, “Food works everytime.” A fellow dog account even chimed in with, “I only smile for blueberries!”
Honestly, dog owners probably get it immediately. Every dog has their thing. Franky just happens to reserve his cute Corgi smiles for strawberries.
