Every now and then, a new trend takes over the internet, and pet owners just have to try it out. These viral moments are such a great way to bond and provide some mental enrichment for a pup. Howie, the Bernese Mountain Dog, recently took a shot at the popular toilet paper challenge over on @howietheberner. This Minneapolis-based fluffball was born in late 2025, and he is already quite the athlete. Well, sort of. It is hilarious to watch him navigate the hallway obstacle course.

Level one starts with a single row of rolls across the floor. Mom jumps over them easily, and Howie is right behind her. He doesn’t actually jump, though; instead, he gets distracted and stops to pick up a roll with his mouth. This level is an immediate fail. By level two, the wall is twice as high. Mom clears it, but the dog just barrels through the middle. He knocks a few over and then runs back the other way. He is clearly more interested in the rolls than the rules.
Things get serious at level three with a triple-stacked wall. This Bernese Mountain Dog tries to jump through the toilet paper rolls for the challenge this time. However, he clips the top with his back feet and, of course, has to stop and collect one of the fallen rolls.
Then comes level four. He actually clears the tall stack with a roll already in his mouth. It is a total success. But then he immediately turns around and disintegrates the entire wall. One viewer noted that he is ready for the Olympics. Level five is the ultimate test. Mom jumps five rows of paper, and Howie tries to replicate the moment, but it is just too high for him. He knocks the top row down during his first attempt.
He gets a second chance and only makes one roll tumble, which is close enough to a win. “Only a few toilet paper rolls were harmed in the making of this video,” his owner joked. As of the time of writing, the clip has over a thousand likes in just one day because it is impossible not to smile at this pup’s effort.
