Two spectators — a dog and a toddler — were definitely not ready for their dad’s magic trick in this adorable Instagram video from @beaunosebones. In the clip, a Golden Retriever named Beau sits beside a kid named Frankie, both patiently waiting at the doorway for their dad to start the magic show.
Their parent holds a blanket up across the doorway like a curtain. As Beau and Frankie watch intently, the blanket drops — and just like that, their dad disappears out of thin air, leaving them utterly shocked.
Dog and toddler react to dad’s magic trick almost the same way
After their dad disappears in the video, the dog and the toddler seem to have the same reaction. Frankie covers his stunned face, while Beau looks equally alarmed. The toddler then takes slow and careful steps forward to peek around the corner, while the pup bolts in to investigate as soon as he collects himself.
Finally, the Golden Retriever confirms what Frankie suspects — their dad did not actually disappear, he just ran out of sight — and just like that, they solve the mystery together. As soon as they find their dad, Frankie breaks into laughter, and the hallway turns into a joyful riot.

Toddlers are still learning that people can be there even when they are not visible. Hence, a blanket drop can feel like actual magic. When that does not happen, a pup will feel the immediate need to go check.
