Missing senior dog reportedly reunited with his family after a decade in Philadelphia. According to a report, the canine was stolen from his owner’s home yard in the Mayfair neighborhood. The family took every measure to find their puppy. From posters to an Instagram page, they were looking for Forty for a long time.
In fact, the pet parent didn’t lose hope over the years and updated the fur baby’s information by calling the microchip company a few months ago. Thanks to that, the dog was found when the ACCT Philly officers called the updated number linked to Forty’s chip.
How a senior dog missing for 11 years finally reunited with family because of microchip
A Philadelphia family rejoiced after they reunited with their senior dog after 11 years, PEOPLE reported. Named Forty, the then-puppy went missing after the owner’s two pets were stolen from their yard in 2014. While they found one, they couldn’t track Forty even after extensive searches. However, the pet parent didn’t lose hope and created an Instagram page to widen the search options.
Furthermore, they updated the contact information linked to Forty’s microchip two months ago. This turned out to be extremely useful when the ACCT Philly officers called the number. “I thought it was a joke. It’s just amazing, and I can’t believe after years that he was brought back to us,” dog owner Jourdyn told ABC 6 News. He also mentioned that the pooch has gotten “very old,” but would now be leading his “best life” with the family.
As per the PEOPLE report, Forty looked a bit confused but seemed to understand that he was safe. Seeing the emotional reunion, Animal rescue officials have urged dog parents to keep their pets’ microchip information up to date. Moreover, they requested that people who find stray dogs check the microchip details to confirm whether the canines have a family.
