Imagine being a dog and just randomly coming across a piece of chicken wing lying on the ground. A dream come true, right? That is exactly what happened to Chip recently while he was out on a walk. He is part of the popular duo @gamjamypotato on Instagram. The new video shows this Golden Retriever facing a very difficult choice. He has found food lying unclaimed near a bench in the park. And while most pups would have eaten it instantly, Chip shows impressive restraint. He actually stops to ask for permission from Mom first.
Golden Retriever reacts to finding chicken wing on ground
The video starts mid-walk, and Mom rounds a bush to find Chip sniffing something. When he sees her, Chip walks right to her like he’s filing an official discovery report. He definitely looks like he’s telling her about the chicken. Then he turns around to show her the spot, but Mom tells him to leave it. She says it’s not his, but he just sits down right next to it and even smacks his lips, like he’s asking if it can be his now. He just sits there negotiating, looking more and more hopeful.
This breed usually thinks with their stomachs first. But Chip is clearly very well-trained. Mom tells him to come to her, and so he takes one last, long look at that wing. And then he actually walks away. He even passes his mom to get even further from the temptation. She mentioned in the comments that they practice scavenger hunts at home, and all that repetition really paid off.
This video of the Golden Retriever was posted on February 26 and has over 3.6k likes so far. One fan said their dog would have scarfed it down in a second. Another loved how he checked in first. “Is he the best boy or is he the best boy?” Mom asked in the caption. He sure is.
Then the clip cuts to home, where this Golden Retriever finally gets a snack. Mom gives him and his sister Gamja raw chicken feet, which are actually safe for them. Chip looks so satisfied. Like he finally got his chicken fix. It’s just proof that being a good boy has its perks.
