Video: Rescue Dog Has a Special Reunion With Owner Every Time He’s Out

There is absolutely no way to explain the concept of a 60-minute workout to a pet who thinks a single hour is actually an entire decade. Michael Henry recently walked back into his house after a quick gym session to find his rescue pup just waking up from a nap. In this new video from @cactustherescue, the rescue dog proves that time is irrelevant when it comes to missing his favorite person, i.e., his owner. And as we see, Michael is also just happy to be back in the same room as his best friend.

Rescue dog greets owner in a very special way every time he returns from the gym

Michael walks over to the corner of the room to check on the pup, who looks a little dazed on his donut bed. He asks if he was sleeping and if the noise woke him up. Cactus responds with a massive, wide-mouthed yawn that shows he was definitely deep in a dream. But the second dad sits on the couch and calls him over, the energy shifts.

The rescue dog jumps up and wiggles his way into a prime spot on the cushions because he is ready for the reunion to officially begin. Michael tells him he missed him so much. Cactus just stares at the camera for a second like he is processing the news. And then the kisses start.

He just peppers his owner with affection while his tail wags merrily. It’s that deep level of trust you see in a dog who has been through a lot. Dad asks if he wants to “lay” and Cactus immediately melts onto Michael’s belly. He is soaking up every bit of attention he can get as if he is making up for lost time.

“In my mind I’m thinking, ‘Buddy, I was barely gone,’” Michael shared in the caption. But for a dog rescued from the desert, maybe he isn’t always sure everyone will come back.

Over 23k people have liked the video because the bond is so obvious. One viewer mentioned that he looks at his human with so much love and trust. Another fan said it was a good sign that he was napping, because it meant he wasn’t anxious while alone.
