Dogs are known for their big personalities, and sometimes that means they have their own opinions about what they should or shouldn’t be doing. While many pet owners try to encourage calm behavior, not every pup is ready to settle down on command.
One video currently making the rounds online shows exactly what happens when a spirited dog is told it’s time to relax. Shared on Instagram by the account @fluffy.doodle.louie, the clip captures a funny exchange between a doodle named Louie and his owner as she attempts to have him calm down.
The dog isn’t in the mood to relax, despite being told to do so
The short video begins with Louie already looking alert and full of energy. According to the caption on the clip, the moment is described as: “POV: you tried to reason with a toddler,” hinting at the playful argument about to unfold.
Louie’s owner gently tells him to settle down, clearly hoping to encourage a quieter moment. However, the pup seems to have other plans. As soon as he hears the request, he responds with sharp, expressive barks directed straight at her, almost as if he is protesting the suggestion.
Trying a softer approach, the owner sweetly calls him “pumpkin” in an attempt to calm him. But the affectionate nickname does little to change Louie’s mood. Instead of relaxing, he continues barking back with determination, adding a sharp sneeze into the mix.
Still trying to reason with him, the owner explains, “It’s relaxing time now.” Louie, however, appears unconvinced. The dog gives her intense looks between barks in the video, as if he is debating her request to relax.
The clip ends abruptly when Louie suddenly darts toward her, turning the conversation into a burst of playful energy. In the caption accompanying the video, the owner jokes about the dog’s stubborn personality, writing, “I’m raising a tiny lawyer.”
