Video: Dogs Can Barely Wait for Owner to Finish Praying Before Dinner

Mealtime can be one of the most exciting parts of the day for dogs. The sound of a food bowl being set down or a bag of kibble opening is often enough to send tails wagging and ears perked up in anticipation. For many pet parents, this daily routine also becomes a chance to reinforce patience and good manners.

A recent video shared on Instagram by @ca.n8tiv805 shows two eager dogs trying their best to behave while their owner finishes saying grace before dinner.

Dogs cannot wait to start eating in cute video

The video begins with Christina Zaragoza filming her two dogs as they sit near their filled food bowls. The dogs are clearly ready to eat, but before they can dig in, Zaragoza gives them a firm command to wait. One of the dogs immediately perks up his ears upon recognizing the instruction.

While the bowls sit directly in front of them, the dogs remain in place and focus on their owner. Zaragoza then begins a lighthearted prayer, thanking the things that matter most in their lives. “Thank you for my tail, my ears, my paws, my family, my home, my food and my mama Tina,” she says while the dogs listen closely.

Even though the dogs remain obedient, their excitement is hard to hide. They stare at the bowls, shift slightly, and look back toward Zaragoza, as if hoping the prayer will wrap up soon. The anticipation builds as the seconds pass, and viewers can see the dogs doing their best to follow the rules despite their hunger.

The moment the prayer ends, Zaragoza gives them the signal they’ve been waiting for. As soon as she says “good boys,” both dogs immediately dive into their bowls and begin eating without hesitation. Their quick reaction adds a humorous finish to the clip, showing just how ready they were for dinner.

If you’re hoping to teach your own dog similar mealtime manners, you can start by asking them to sit and wait before placing the bowl down. Use clear commands like “wait” or “stay,” and allow them to begin eating only after you give a release word, such as “okay.” At first, the waiting period can be just a few seconds, but gradually increase the time as your dog improves.
