Sometimes, you just have to lower your expectations and realize that two pets not fighting is actually a massive victory. Cactus and Miso haven’t exactly been best friends ever. There have been toy thefts and random swats in the past. But this new post from @cactustherescue shows things are finally chilling out. In this video, the rescue puppy from the California desert finally manages to land on the same bed as the cat. But their owner admits, it took a while to get here.
Rescue puppy and cat are calm despite sharing the same bed
The lights are low in the bedroom and everyone looks pretty sleepy. Michael is right there in the middle and is using both hands to give the two pets scratches. Moreover, he keeps telling them they are good boys. Cactus looks so relaxed that he even puts a paw on his dad’s arm while he gets his neck rubbed.
Miso is just sitting on a pillow. He looks like he is ready to call it a day, too. It is a huge step because there was no love lost between the rescue puppy and the cat as we’ve seen in previous videos. Michael gives both of them kisses. “You guys be cozy,” he says before leaving them to it.
And then the best part happens. Cactus actually rests his head right against the pillow where the cat is sitting. He looks so content and doesn’t try to steal a toy or start a fight. He’s just being a sweet boy. Some people in the comments noticed his face when Michael kissed the other pet first. It was hilarious.
Progress isn’t always about cuddling. Sometimes, it is just learning how to share the same space. “They’re still not cuddling, and maybe they never will, but even this feels like a win,” Michael wrote, and he is right. They might never be best friends who hug, but they aren’t enemies anymore. One viewer pointed out that not every sibling has to be super close.
