Some dogs don’t even need the gate open to make friends. Over on @louiss.the.golden, this Golden Retriever is basically running a tiny fan club from his front porch, and the video proves it. The gates are shut, and the street is on the other side. And yet, parked right by a small gap in the metal, Louis waits like he knows exactly what’s coming. The on-screen text reads, “A day in the life of the neighborhood’s beloved pup.” And honestly, the video justifies the Golden Retriever title within the first few seconds.
Golden Retriever gets pets from neighborhood kids in adorable video
The clip opens with Louis just sitting by the closed gate. But then the camera zooms in, and we see a tiny hand reaching through the bars to pet the dog on the head. He stays still, soaking up every second of it. Golden Retrievers are famous for being incredibly gentle and patient, which explains why Louis is so great with the local kids.
A couple of children are standing on the sidewalk, taking turns to say hello. Louis doesn’t bark or jump. Instead, he lets them pet his ears and snout through the opening. “I guess I really do make it easy to fall in love (with me of course),” the owner wrote in the caption, referring to the song “So Easy (To Fall In Love)” by Olivia Dean that plays along.
Louis then eventually decides he wants to get more comfortable for the meet-and-greet. He lies down right next to the gate where the grills are thinner, thus making it easier for the kids to reach him while they sit on the pavement outside. The video has picked up over 6,700 likes from people who wish they lived on his street.
One viewer commented that love always finds its own way. It seems like Louis is the neighborhood’s favorite morning routine. Moreover, he is definitely living a good life with his parents. Between the neighborhood kids and his treats being delivered, he has nothing to worry about.
