Video: Big Dog Goes Skiing, but There’s a Catch

Nothing says winter fun quite like carving your way down a snowy slope. But let’s face it, skiing isn’t the first activity that comes to mind for your oversized pup. That didn’t stop one determined owner from finding a creative workaround. A new video making the rounds online shows a big dog tagging along for a downhill ride in a way that has everyone talking.

Big dog goes skiing while being carried by owner

An Instagram user known as @littlebearlumi recently shared a clip revealing how she takes her large Samoyed, Lumi, along for ski days. The video opens inside a cable car, where the owner sits with Lumi and explains to viewers that this is how she brings her big dog skiing.

The footage then transitions to the snowy slopes. Before heading downhill, she carefully secures Lumi into the backpack, making sure he is snug and well-supported. She even places ski goggles over his eyes to protect them from glare and wind. Onlookers nearby can be seen watching the pair with curiosity and amusement as they prepare for their run.

Once everything is set, the owner pushes off and begins skiing downhill with Lumi safely on her back. The Samoyed appears calm and content, taking in the snowy surroundings as they glide down the slope. His relaxed posture and steady gaze suggest this is not a new experience for him. Rather than looking anxious, Lumi seems completely at ease, as though he trusts his owner and is accustomed to their snowy adventures together.

The wholesome clip quickly gained traction online, collecting more than 175K likes within 24 hours. Thousands of viewers flooded the comments section, charmed by the unusual skiing companion. One person joked, “Why is this not in the Winter Olympics?” Another pointed out Lumi’s relaxed demeanor, writing, “Love the paw on your shoulder, just chillin’ with a smile on his face.”

Several commenters suggested this was clearly not Lumi’s first trip down the slopes. One noted, “This was not his first rodeo.” Others wondered about the logistics, asking if the fluffy passenger needed his own ski pass. Many couldn’t get over the goggles, with one user saying the dog had “the most swag” they had ever seen.
