This Video of a Dachshund’s POV Is Everything

Otto the Dachshund’s video proves that the world looks very different when you are only a couple of inches off the ground with tiny legs. The Instagram Reel is from user @ottothedachsy, who attaches a camera to the dog. Then, the same follows Otto from his own point of view, and it turns regular walks into something that feels like an action movie — only everything is too big.

Everything appears ‘huge’ when you look at things from Dachshund’s POV

The video opens with the onscreen text that reads, “A dachshund’s POV,” with “Everything is huge” stamped underneath. Otto’s view captures a wintery walk where snowy paths stretch out, and other dogs look like they belong in a different realm — at least in terms of size.

From Otto’s low angle, long legs look like towering poles, and big dogs in bright coats feel twice their actual size. The footage also makes Otto’s famous floppy ears part of the show as they bounce at the edges of the frame, kind of giving the whole video some sort of special effects.

The video’s caption quips, “Imagine being so small? And yet dachshunds are so feisty.” And it is true, because anyone who has met a Doxie knows they often act like the biggest dog in the park.

Viewers united to form a support group for Otto. One viewer wrote, “My 14 year old dachshund tried to take down a Siberian Husky the other day.” While another admitted, “I love this POV! I’m always trying to lie on the floor with my dachshund to try and see what he sees.” A third commenter spoke on behalf of all tiny dogs, writing, “Yet we are as big as a Doberman on the inside.”

Dachshunds were bred to be bold and stubborn enough to go into burrows and face animals that didn’t exactly play nice. When you pair that fearless wiring with a world that literally looks larger from their eye level, their “feisty” reputation makes a lot of sense.

Safe to say that Otto’s video explains the Doxie mindset: everything is huge, so you have to be tougher than you look.
