Video: Pack of Jack Russells Reacting to Sledding Is Everything

In an Instagram video from @gymrussells, a pack of five Jack Russells, Rysia, Fatty, Moo, Oreo & Fifi, race alongside their owner as he goes sledding across an open field. The on-screen text simply says, “Winter fun wit a Jack Russell,” while the caption doubles down with “That was fun ?” And if you watch the video, you can’t argue with that.

Jack Russells have different reactions to owner sledding

From the first run, every Jack Russell in the video seems to pick a role while their owner goes sledding. One charges straight toward the sled like it is a moving target, another hangs back for a second, then sprints to catch up, and two of them appear especially committed to the side quest of dragging a long branch together while still trying to keep pace. The pack barks and darts in and out of the sled’s path, making the scene look like a winter action movie.

It is chaotic, and Jack Russell owners will resonate with it. The breed is all about speed and fast-moving things, such as a sled. And any of it can flip on their “follow around” switch in a heartbeat. They want to be part of the fun and make it obvious.

In the comments, viewers were equal parts delighted and impressed. One wrote, “This is so fun to watch! I love your Jack Russells,” while another commented on the dogs, writing, “They fear nothing.” A third viewer couldn’t help gushing, adding, “The best dogs.”

Not everyone watched without a tiny bit of worry, though. One comment added, “So cute! But I am a bit worried about they got hit,” which is fair; five fast dogs around a moving sled is a lot of motion at once, and may result in an unforeseen injury. But don’t worry, the owners did not report any. And the main takeaway from the video is that sledding might be the owner’s idea of winter fun, but these Jack Russells clearly believe it’s theirs as well.
