Video Captures a Group of Foster Puppies Picking Their Own Names

Naming a pet is usually a chain of indecision and endless lists. Back in April 2025, Whitney from @whitneysdogs found a much better way. She let the experts handle it. She had nine foster puppies at the time and a big decision to make. Instead of picking a theme herself, she set up a “Finals Edition” bracket. It was an intense battle between Team Space and Team Ice Cream. This video shows how a room full of fluff decides their own future. It isn’t exactly scientific, but it is more entertaining than a baby name book.

Foster puppies picking their own names melts hearts online

This foster puppies video is a total nail-biter. Whitney puts two cards on the floor and lets each puppy pick a side. One big boy goes straight for Space. But then a little girl with a bad case of stage fright levels things for Ice Cream. Things stay pretty even until the “heathen” of the group shows up. This foster puppy’s video shows her literally eating the corner of the Ice Cream card. She isn’t sorry at all. In fact, Whitney had to write a new card while she just sat there looking proud.

The score eventually hits a 4-4 tie. Everything comes down to the tiny runt of the litter. She stares at her options in the video for a long time. Finally, she nudges Team Space for the win. The internet absolutely lost it in the comments. People started pitching names like Pluto and Nebula immediately. One viewer even suggested “Uranus” for the puppy that pees the most.

One fan went all out with a constellation-themed list. They suggested names like Draco, Sirius, and Lyra for the different personalities. It is fun to see people get so invested in a group of dogs they’ve never met. Whitney is known for being a “shamelessly extra” foster mom, and this setup proves why.

These foster puppies end up with a theme that fits their puppy energy perfectly. The next day, the girls actually get to pick their individual space names. And a day later, the boys do the same. If only every big life decision could be solved by nudging a piece of paper on the floor.
