Video Shows What Rescue Puppy Does to Comfort Sick Owner

When we are feeling under the weather, usually a chicken soup and a dark room seem to do the trick. But Michael Henry’s household has a much fluffier solution. Cactus, the sweet rescue from @cactustherescue, seems to have a built-in radar for when his humans are struggling.

In a recent video that’s pulling at everyone’s heartstrings, the rescue pup’s dad explains that mommy is sick and asks for some backup. Without needing a second invitation, Cactus listens intently to the request, seemingly processing every word before springing into action to help his sick mom.

Rescue pup runs to give cuddles to owner who is sick

As soon as he gets the signal, Cactus hops over to the other side of the couch where his mom is bundled up in a cozy robe. He starts sniffing like he’s performing a tiny medical exam. Then he offers a round of “healing” kisses. Dogs that have been saved from tough situations often develop profound empathy, and this little guy is no exception.

His dad noted that dogs can apparently smell when you’re sick, and Cactus “immediately reported for cuddle duty.” And that’s why his expressive eyes show he’s fully committed to the mission. The footage captures Cactus settling in next to his mom for the long haul. Eventually lying completely still while his mom wraps her arms around him for a nap.

One viewer perfectly described the scene as the ultimate “tonic” for a fast recovery. Cactus even seems to flash a deliberate smile while his dad gives him forehead scritches, looking quite proud of his caretaking skills. He seems to know exactly how much his presence is helping his sick mom.

The comment section is full of people sharing similar stories about their own pets never leaving their side during a rough patch. As one fan pointed out, Cactus has such a “soft heart” and clearly understands that his primary job today is being a living, breathing heating pad. It’s pretty hard to feel miserable for long when a professional “snuggle munchkin” is taking up half the blanket.
