Video: Dog Conducts Extreme ‘Sniffspection’ When Dad Is Home

The second Faith’s nose catches a familiar scent drifting through the door frame, everything else — including the stray baby toys in her path — becomes a secondary concern. As a deaf pup, Faith relies on her “super-sniffer” abilities to stay in the loop, and this latest dog video from @deafdogofmn shows her in her element, sniffing away.

She comes flying into the frame with a joyful gallop, clearing obstacles just to reach the entrance. It’s not just a casual greeting. It’s an all-out “sniffspection” to confirm that her favorite human is finally on the other side. She doesn’t seem to be stopping until she’s accounted for every molecule of her dad’s arrival.

Dog can’t stop sniffing when dad’s home

As the in-video text reads, “Time to get those sniffs…,” the dog hops straight to the front door and zeroes in on one very specific spot — the bottom corner where the door meets the frame. She presses her nose there and starts working.

Long inhale, quick exhale, and another inhale that somehow sounds deeper than the last. She pauses just long enough to glance back at her mom, as if to say, “You know it too, right?” Then she’s back at it.

The caption explains it best: “She literally can’t smell the door hard enough when dad gets home.” And that just feels accurate. One exhale almost turns into a sneeze before she doubles down, pawing at the corner while her nose stays glued in place.

She is clearly tired of the barrier between her and her dad. You can even see the shadow of her tail wagging against the door, like her excitement is leaking out in every direction.

Faith is deaf, so she’s often told in ASL when her dad is home. But as this video of the dog sniffing proves, she usually figures it out on her own first. Her feed is full of clips showing how tuned-in she is — practicing signs, checking vents, investigating doors, even inspecting the shower corner. When one sense is missing, the others step up.

Viewers couldn’t get enough. “I wonder if her nose suction power is greater than my Bissell vacuum,” one joked. Another laughed, “Galloping over the baby’s toy is hilarious.” Others kept it simple: “That is the most precious thing,” and “Oh wow my deaf dog also does this.” Her dad may not be through the door yet, but Faith already knows.
