Dog’s Way of ‘Beefing’ With Owner Amuses the Internet

A hilarious Instagram video from @itsmalcontent shows a dog named Mal cracking the code to get his owner’s attention: beefing. The video features Mal’s dad, the rescue Border Collie, and his audacious act of launching his dad’s shoe down the stairs — and not only that, he actually even starts an argument about it. So, if you need a masterclass in beefing, Mal is here to rescue you.

Dog throws shoe down the stairs in hilarious video

In the video, zoomies hit the rescue dog while he is on the stairs — and that’s when he decides it’s beefing time. The chaos peaks when he grabs his dad’s shoe and tosses it down the staircase like he is making some point, looking really proud of himself.

Mal’s ears are up, and his tail wags as he waits for the reaction he knows is coming. Downstairs, his dad calls up, genuinely stunned, asking, “Did you just throw my shoe down the stairs?” and Mal fires back with a bark.

His dad doesn’t let it slide. He reminds the dog, “That’s not a toy. What’s your deal?” In response, Mal huffs, locks eyes with him, and holds the stare — and when his dad asks, “What’s your problem?” the Border Collie answers with a dramatic howl that sounds like he is drafting a complaint.

Then dad tries again, asking him to “Come here.” Mal sits at the top step, thinking it over like he is negotiating, but the second dad says, “Come down here,” Mal suddenly springs into action and descends down the stairs in fast, rhythmic little stomps. It is dramatic and hilarious.

In the video’s caption, the dog’s dad notes their dynamic, writing, “always beefing never nice.” And viewers loved every bit of it. One user joked, “Put em on! We are going out, Dad,” while another perfectly translated Mal’s howl with, “‘What’s your problem?’ – Youuuuuuuu are.” A third viewer came to Mal’s defense, joking, “As Mal’s legal counsel, the shoe instigated and provoked Mal. She was only defending herself.”

If there’s one thing this video clarifies, it is that the dog clearly knows how to keep his house entertained — even if it means beefing with his dad.
