Video: Dog Uses Owner’s Suitcase as a Hiding Spot While They’re Packing

Travel prep often comes with stress, lists, and a race against the clock. But if you have a pup at home, there’s usually an unexpected interruption waiting to happen. They watch every move, trying to figure out what’s going on and how they fit into it. One adorable dog made his feelings clear by choosing the most obvious hiding spot possible in a cute video.

Dog is not very good at hiding in adorable video

A dog owner, @sleepydoggosimba, shared a clip showing what happened while they were packing for a trip. The short video, set to playful, goofy music, begins with a suitcase sitting on the floor. At first glance, it looks normal, until a curious snout can be seen poking out from the partially closed bag.

As the owner moves closer and opens the suitcase flap, the “hiding spot” is revealed. Inside sits Simba, a chocolate Labrador mix, calmly tucked into the bag as if he belongs there. The onscreen caption reads, “Found someone hiding in my bag while I’m packing.”

Simba doesn’t appear startled or guilty when discovered. Instead, he sits comfortably in the suitcase, looking relaxed and content, as though this was his plan all along. The video suggests that Simba may have been hoping to come along on the trip, or perhaps was trying to prevent it altogether by occupying the luggage. His quiet confidence and poor attempt at hiding only add to the humor.

Pets are often drawn to bags, boxes, and enclosed spaces for several reasons. These areas can feel safe and secure, mimicking den-like environments that animals naturally seek out. Enclosed spaces help block out excess noise and visual distractions, which can be comforting. Suitcases and bags also carry strong scents of their owners, making them especially appealing places to settle.

In situations like packing, pets may also be responding emotionally. Seeing luggage can signal change, which some animals associate with separation. Sitting inside a bag may be their way of staying close or expressing a desire to come along. In Simba’s case, the suitcase offered both comfort and attention, two things dogs rarely turn down.
